In the spirit of the 15th century artist and visionary Leonardo da Vinci, the da Vinci Awards honor the most innovative developments and research in adaptive and assistive technology that embrace the Universal Design Principle - an approach to the design of products, services and environments to be usable by as many people as possible regardless of age, ability or circumstance. The 2007 da Vinci Awards will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Dearborn, MI, on Friday, September 28, 2007. "The Miracle League" is a charitable organization that provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. There is something about playing the game of baseball that lights up youngsters’ eyes, but for children facing physical and mental challenges, that opportunity can often be a difficult first step. The Miracle League gives these children the opportunity to get out in the sunshine, and enjoy playing the game of baseball in its purest form. Leagues begin June 12 2007 in Southfield, Michigan. The Broe Therapy Choir is comprised of a unique group of men and women who are recovering from traumatic brain injuries, substance abuse problems and mental illness. The Broe Therapy Choir will be touring throughout the spring and summer in Michigan. Dates are as follows:

C.C. Plus will begin their Fall 2003 "My Chance to Dance" special needs dance/exercise program for physically and/or developmentally disabled adults in September. Paint a Miracle is a nonprofit art studio that offers people with disabilities the opportunity to develop their artistic talents in an atmosphere of hope, growth and encouragement. The city of Sterling Heights is offering therapeutic recreation to meet the leisure needs of disabled individuals. Michigan Wheelchair Basketball Teams
Several Michigan wheelchair basketball teams have open practices. here is a listing of four of them:

Community Connection Activities Information. Community Connection provides a variety of activities and events on an ongoing basis. Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, and co-sponsored by Oakland County Parks and Beaumont Hospital, Community Connection offers activities and events ranging from Yoga, Chair Aerobics, Swimming to Wreath Making and more. Special Needs Dance/Exercise Classes
